Agritourism Activities 

A farm operator who offers agritourism activities is someone who:
  • holds a farm producer card;
  • is referred to by the Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation (MAPAQ) as a producer working in agritourism (see note 1); 
  • is located in a farming environment, that is to say where there is infrastructure for production (farm buildings) and a surrounding farm or forest environment; 
  • welcomes visitors for a tour, an overnight stay, a meal (see note 2) or for the sale of his or her products;
  • encourages contact between him- or herself (or any other person with adequate knowledge) and the visitor, in order to tell them about the different varieties, details about the farm, products or processing methods. More specifically, if this contact involves a tour, the sale of products or U-Pick, one of the following activities or interpretation tools is offered: explanatory leaflet, audio-visual presentation, interpretation panel, self-guided tour, guided tour;
  • complies with all government and municipal legislation and regulations that govern his or her activities;
  • is listed on the Québec Business Registry if so required.
Notes:
  1. Contact the regional services of MAPAQ in order to have yourself listed as a farm producer offering agritourism activities or services. An identification number will be allocated to you.
  2. The meal must consist of products from the farm. There must be table service and the dining room must be located on the farm premises. The operator must also hold a food preparation license. Snack bars and canteens are excluded.
