Our promise: Experience and taste the best of Québec by choosing a certified establishment!

Our association has developed certification programs that acknowledge the operators that stand out for their quality of offer and their willingness to showcase Québec products in a significant and innovate way. Our certifications are listed under the following brand names: Gîte du Passant, Auberge du Passant, Table Champêtre, Table aux Saveurs du Terroir, Relais du Terroir and Ferme Découverte. As a complement to the Gîte and Auberge du Passant certifications, tourist homes are certified under the brand names: Maison de Campagne and Maison de Ville (Country Home and City Home).

Our promise: "Our certified establishments are only those carefully selected for the superior quality of their offer; they are distinguished by their commitment to showcasing the Québec terroir and its products. At these establishments you’ll meet the very best ambassadors who will introduce you to all the riches of the Québec terroir and offer you a wonderful local taste experience."

To guarantee this promise, our operators must respect the highest standards for quality. You can help us monitor the level of satisfaction for their establishments by sending us your comments. You may use the evaluation sheets available in each establishment, or provide your opinion on our Web site. You’ll find this option on the Web page for the establishment for which you wish to provide an opinion.

You’ll recognize our certified establishments by this small seal or one of the following:

* 'Gîte du Passant', 'Auberge du Passant', 'Table Champêtre', 'Table aux Saveurs du Terroir' and .Relais du Terroir' are registered trademarks reserved for the exclusive use of the operators who have obtained one of these certifications.

A little of our history

Our association, previously known as the Fédération des Agricotours du Québec, was created in 1976. At first, its offer was essentially composed of farm bed & breakfasts. The “bed & breakfast” concept was new to Québec at that time. Tourists will probably be interested to know that it was our association that started developing B&Bs throughout the various regions of Québec.

At the beginning of the ’80s, we developed the Gîte du Passant certification in order to respond to the clientele’s need for quality. Gradually, the Auberge du Passant, Maison de Campagne ou de Ville (Country and City Homes), Table Champêtre (dining on the farm), Ferme Découverte (farm tours and activities) and Relais du Terroir (farm shops selling terroir products) came along, diversifying our association’s offer. Our most recent certification is Table aux Saveurs du Terroir, a food service concept that highlights the regional cuisine and Quebec terroir products. In January 2010, the Fédération des Agricotours du Québec changed its name to the Association de l’Agrotourisme et du Tourisme Gourmand du Québec.
